Dilantin
Dilantin is a drug that is prescribed for persons for controlling seizures. But the drug is not used for treating all kinds of seizures and your doctor will determine about the right kind of medication for you.
An anti-epileptic drug, Dilantin is also known as an anticonvulsant. The drug acts on brain cells that causes seizures and works by slowing down the impulses that causes the condition.

A Dilantin overdose can be fatal and some of the symptoms with overdose include tremor, twitching eye movements, loss of balance, slurred speech, muscle stiffness, nausea, light-headedness, vomiting and slow breathing.
If your doctor prescribes Dilantin for seizures, you have to take it as long as he recommends it. Do not break the course in the middle of a medication as it can only increase the risk of side effects. Moreover, you will see an increase in your seizures.

Tell him if you have diabetes, vitamin D deficiency or any condition that causes bone thinning.
Dilantin is FDA pregnancy category D. This means that the drug can be dangerous to the foetus. So pregnant women and those who to get pregnant should avoid Dilantin. It is also better not to get pregnant while you are on Dilantin medication.
While you are on Dilantin medication you should never miss any appointments as you may have thoughts of suicide when taking the drug. Contact your doctor if you have experience any mood or behaviour change, depression, restlessness, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.
When you are on Dilantin medication, avoid alcohol as it increases the risk of side effects. Antacids should be avoided, as it makes hard for he body to absorb the drug into the body.
