Amaryl is a drug prescribed for diabetes that helps in controlling the sugar levels in the blood. The drug is used together with other medicines for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes.

Amoryl is FDA pregnancy category C, which means that it is not known whether the drug is harmful to the fetus. But if you are pregnant, it is better to discuss with the doctor about all the risks and benefits of the drug. It is also not known if Amaryl passes into breast milk. Even then breast feeding women who use the drug has to contact their doctor before feeding their kids.
While you are on Amaryl medication, you should have to regularly check the blood sugar. It is better that you do not miss any appointment and also lab tests.
When you are on Amaryl medication, it is better to avoid alcohol as it lowers blood sugar level. You should also avoid direct sunlight as the drug can make your skin sensitive. When going out it is better to wear protective clothing or use some sunscreen lotion or cream.
Amaryl should be avoided if you have allergies to glimepiride or if you are in a state of diabetic ketoacidosis. Certain drugs are known to interact with Amaryl. Therefore, it is better to inform your doctor about all the medicines that you are taking like albuterol, clonidine, beta-blockers and drugs that lower blood pressure.
