Albuterol is a medication that is given for persons having problems with air passage. It is the most widely prescribed medicine for bronchospasm. A bronchodilator, this drug is also used for treating exercise-induced bronchospasm.

Albuterol medicine is also not prescribed if a patient is using loop diuretics as it increase risk of hypokalemia.

Albuterol drug has many side effects, some serious and some less. The serious side effects associated with Albuterol include extreme thirst, uneven heart beat, Chest pain, nervousness, discomfort in legs, tremor, muscle weakness, increased urination and high blood pressure. The lesser known Albuterol side effects are headache, dry mouth, insomnia, cough, diarrhea, sore throat and stuffy nose.
