Aciphex
Aciphex is a drug prescribed for the treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive esophagitis.
The drug can be taken in empty stomach and also with food. The drug is normally prescribed for four to eight weeks. While taking the drug, follow your doctor’s prescription. Aciphex has to be swallowed only as it is an extended release drug. Once you are prescribed Aciphex, you should have to complete the whole course of the medication.
Keep a tab on the doses and never miss one. In case you miss a dose, take it before the next scheduled dose. But if it is almost time for your regular doses, skip the missed one. Never take two doses at the same time.
Before you take Aciphex, you have to tell your doctor about all your medical history. Inform him if you have any allergies to any particular substance, medicine or food. Tell your doctor if you have any disease of the liver or kidney.
Pregnant women and those who hope to get pregnant should avoid the drug as it can cause harm to the foetus. Breast-feeding women should also avoid Aciphex as the drug is traced in breast milk.
Before you take Aciphex, tell your doctor about all the medicines that you are using, as some drugs are known to interact with Aciphex.
Like all medicines, Aciphex also comes with many side effects. Headache, nervousness, rashes, stomach upset and diarrhoea are some of the side effects you may come across while taking Aciphex.
